On Monday, May 20, Maya hosted a food pairing with one of the newest and unique tequila’s, Semental Tequila. The food pairing took place in Maya’s cherished private dining room where sister venue, La Biblioteca’s Librarian Tequila, Courtenay Greenleaf and Semental Ambassador, Serena Fill took customer’s through each unique expression.
Semental is extraordinary tequila, which is created by the use of modern methods. Throughout the creation of Semental Tequila, the company is quite selective in choosing their crop. The crop is grown naturally allowing the wild yeast in the air to begin the process.
The unique trait of Semental Tequila is that the pureness is tripled to make the tequila smooth and the methanol content is the lowered to the lowest in the tequila industry. In result, this generates a headache free morning.
“Our añejo is a pioneering barreling program, using a hybrid barrel consisting of American Missouri and French Limousin Oak,” Fill said.
“This creates a completely unique flavor profile and a one-of-a-kind tequila.”
Varieties of Tequila Semental include Silver, Reposado and Anejo paired with a three-course dinner. Each course was served with an authentic tequila flavor.
The evening began with Tequila Semental Silver, which was served with the first course appetizer, Maya’s Arugula Salad that included sweet cranberries and balsamic reduction complementing the pepper, oil and spice of the Silver.
Fruity and dry, Tequila Semental Silver is a clear color created with charred green pepper, floral talc, creamy vanilla and white pepper scents. An appealing and glistening entry leads to roasted tropical fruits and peppers with a coating of vanilla bean and spice correlated with sharp white pepper, oil, powdered sugar and dried flower fade.
“This is the top of the line tequila and some of the best we have ever tasted,” Punchin Intl & The Walman Report said.
“A hedonistic style with vigor and uncompromised flavor,” according to bevx.com.
Next we were indulged with the Tequila Semental Reposado, which was served with Maya’s Carnitas, comprising of slow braised pork, with sweet orange sauce and pickled onion-orange salsa complementing the deep flavors of the Reposado. After delving into this course two words came to mind—deliciously succulent.
Appealing and tangy, Tequila Semental Reposado is made from creamy scents of sandalwood, vanilla bean, dates, dried pineapple and black pepper. A smooth entry leads to a dry-yet-fruity, vanilla, dried-fruits, grilled yellow pepper and nutmeg flavors, which are blended with spices, creamy vanilla and hot pink peppercorns.
Saving the ultimate best for last, Maya’s famous Choco Flan was served with the Tequila Semental Anejo comprising of creamy, rich flan that brought out the white chocolate undertones of the añejo while the chocolate cake softened the pepper notes of the añejo. Maya’s famous Choco Flan scrumptiously melted in the mouth leaving with a rich and sweet aftertaste. Customers at Maya came to the fascinating realization that tequila was a perfect mix with dessert.
Tequila Semental Anejo is an amber color. Ingredients include grilled pineapple, rich white chocolate, floral honey and subtle herb and spicy scents trail through to a smooth resilient entry that leads to a dry-yet-fruity taste with drawls of roasted yellow pepper, sandalwood and outlandish peppercorns. The combination is uniquely delightful and smooth.
The next generation and the product of excellence, Tequila Semental has an appealing and flavorful taste and is fully satisfying. Tequila Semental goes well with any type of food, occasion and has an exceptional aroma to it. Stressing about hangovers the next morning is over!
“After a late night of drinking the finest tequila, I was still able to lead my 8:00 a.m. spin class the next morning feeling completely energized,” Angel Crawford, Founder of One Source Resource said.
